Shore hardness test for elastomer (liner)




By means of a digital hardness inspection device the Shore hardness of the liner will be measured acc. to DIN 53505 in Shore A. A defined inspection weight guarantees that for each inspection the test force will be the same, which makes the measurement results comparable.
(The variable hand force of the inspector, which can produce different measuring results, will be excluded by this method)

 



Measuring of wall thickness at the elastomer (Liner)





With a digital dial gauge, which is fixed at a stand, the most important wall thickness of the liner will be measured (sealing surface of the liner for the disc). The data could be saved on PC and printed as a test record for documentation.

 



Measuring the thickness of coating and painting on Ne and Fe basis




For determination the coating thickness of several coatings and paintings a digital coating thickness measuring device will be used. The measuring device is able to measure a thickness of 0 – 5.000 µm (5 mm).

 



Inspection for porosity free non conducitve coatings on metal base




 

To make a better assessment of the coatings quality it is necessary to evaluate the homogeneity of the coating. Only a continuous coating gives a perfect protection against for example corrosion. Ahigh voltage porosity detector device is used to inspect whether the coating is porosity-free. With a defined testing voltage (in KV) the coating surface will be scanned by a metall brush. If any sparks appear due to the fact that voltage comes into contact with a metal core, the coating is porpose and no optimal proctection is ensured.

 



Measuring of surface roughness




To determine the surface roughness of for example a polished disc, a profilometer (instrument for the measurement of surface roughness by profile method) will be used. With this tool exact values of the surface in Rz will be identified and recorded by protocol.



Ultrasound measuring device for measuring of metal wall thickness and ultra sonic speed




An ultrasonic measuring device (Echometer) will measure on one side the wall thickness of metall parts, on the other side the ultra sonic speed for the metall piece can be determined. The determination of ultra sonic speed helps to identify the base material of the metall (Material identification inspection). This is possible because for each base material a characteristic ultra sonic speed can be allocated. For example for ductile iron an ultra sonic speed of approx.  5.600 m/s is characteristic. Further rough classifications for grey cast iron, carbon steel and stainless steel can be made.

 



Chemical analysis of metal material




With a portable Spectrotest analysis device the chemical elements of materials like stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium-bronze and aluminium can be determined exactly. The analysis device contains an EBRO specific material data base, where inspected materials can be compared with. In case the inspected material is unknown the Spectrotest compares the results with the data base and shows all materials which are closest to the measuring results. Is the inspected material known, the analysis device shows exactly, if the inspected material corresponds with the given material like for example 1.4408. Deviations of chemical elements will be marked in red colour. The accuracy of the portable analysis device is close to a laboratory analysis instrument, deviations of measuring results are announced as max. 1 %. Because of the UV-Optic, especially for identifying stainless steel, the important elements like C and S could be identified exactly.

 



Supplier qualification by documentation of measuring results




The determined measuring results will be recorded in integrated quality assurance software. The results could be evaluated as necessary. The evaluation indicates the quality performance of our suppliers. A supplier complaint system is a significant instrument to qualify our suppliers and to improve their quality of delivery.
